• Java language is develop in 1995, Over these years, the certification exams have been changed to cover different topic.

• The names of the exams have even changed over the years. This blog will cover Java 8 Oracle Certified Associate (OCA) exam and how it is transform.

• When Sun Microsystems made java, it used to have two exam for certification. The SJCP (Sun Certified Java Programmer) was meant for programmer and the SCJA (Sun Certified Java Associate) for those who wanted broader knowledge.
• When Oracle bought Sun Microsystem, they changed all the names from Sun to Oracle like SCJP > OCJP and SCJA > OCJA

     after Java 6, Oracle made two strategic decision with Java 7.

• They decided to stop updating the OCJA exam.
• They also decided to cover more details on programmer exam (OCJP) and split it into two exams as shown in diagram.

• Now you first have to take OCAJP (Oracle Certified Associate Java Programmer) also called OCA (Oracle Certified Associate) or Java Programme I. Then you take the OCPJP (Oracle Certified Professional Java Programmer) also called OCP (Oracle Certified Professional) or Java Programmer II.

• There is also an upgrade exam in case you are certified for older version of java like SCJP and OCPJP.

OCA (Oracle Certified Associate) or Java SE Programmer I Exam)

• The OCA exam has varied between 60 and 90 questions since it was introduced. The score to pass in the exam has varied between 60 percent and 80 percent and the time allowed to take the exam has varied from two hours to two and a half hours.
  
  
• This Exam is conducted by Pearson VUE and can be taken at any Person VUE testing centre.
  
  
• To take this exam you have to purchase an exam voucher and redeem within six months, it’s like gift card, Once you have taken exam voucher you can Schedule you exam at Pearson VUE and redeem you purchase voucher over there Or You can directly pay with you Credit Card etc and schedule for you exam either way you can participate in this exam.

  • Here you are planing to take the exam in future and purchasing voucher for the same.
  • The only advantage is that you can get discount benefit made available publicly by the Oracle Certification Program.

  • You are ready for the exam then you paying it’s fee.
  • You are paying for this exam via external testing provider, Pearson VUE at the time when are ready to take exam.

Going For Exam

• While going to take exam you should carry two forms of original valid identity card Issued by government, one form as a primary ID (government issued with name, recent recognizable photo, and signature) and other form as a secondary ID (with at least a name and signature, or name and recent recognizable photo).
  
  
• You will not be allowed to bring paper, your phone, and so on int the exam room with you.
  
  
• The Exam Center will give you writing materials to use during the examination. Most center provide a small erasable board and a dry erase marker.
  
  
• It is advisable to visit you exam center before scheduling your exam to check whether exam center is in good condition to give you good ambience for examination.

After The Exam

• Within 30 minutes of completing your Oracle Certification Exam, you will receive an email from Oracle notifying that you exam results are available in CertView.
  
  
• If you have previously authenticated your CertView account, simply login and select the option to “See My New Exam Result Now”.
  
  
• If you have not authenticated your CertView account yet at this point, you will need to proceed with account authentication .
  
  
• Authentication requires an Oracle Single Sign On username and password and following information from you Pearson VUE profile like email address and Oracle Testing ID.You will be taken to CertView to log in once your account has been authenticated.
